В статье исследуется специфика передачи американских реалий XIX века в русскоязычном переводе классического романа Луизы Мэй Олкотт «Маленькие женщины», выполненном М.Ю. Батищевой в 2014 году. Фокус анализа направлен на выявление и оценку стратегий и переводческих приёмов, которые позволяют решить ключевую дилемму: сохранить уникальный культурно-исторический колорит оригинала, обеспечив его адекватное восприятие современной русскоязычной аудиторией.
В качестве методологической основы применяется классификация реалий С. Влахова и С. Флорина, что позволяет системно проанализировать широкий спектр элементов: от географических названий и бытовых деталей (предметы обихода, еда, одежда) до общественно-политических понятий, а также фразеологии и идиом, отражающих менталитет эпохи. Данный подход обеспечивает всесторонний охват лингвокультурных явлений. Проведённый анализ демонстрирует, что М.Ю. Батищева мастерски комбинирует различные техники – от транслитерации и калькирования до описательного перевода и поиска функциональных аналогов. Это позволяет не только точно передать культурно-обусловленные смыслы, но и обеспечить естественность, художественную целостность и читательскую увлекательность текста на русском языке, поддерживая тонкий баланс между аутентичностью и адаптацией.
На конкретных примерах показано, как переводчику удаётся решить сложные задачи межкультурной адаптации. Исследование подчёркивает значимость подобного анализа для понимания эволюции переводческих стратегий в контексте классической литературы. Работа представляет ценность для специалистов в области лингвокультурологии, переводоведения и межкультурной коммуникации, а также для практикующих переводчиков, филологов и широкого круга читателей, интересующихся проблемами художественного перевода.
The article examines the specifics of rendering 19th-century American realia in the Russian-language translation of Louisa May Alcott's classic novel "Little Women," performed by M. Batishcheva in 2014. The analytical focus is on identifying and assessing the strategies and translation techniques that resolve the key dilemma: preserving the unique cultural and historical flavor of the original while ensuring its adequate perception by a modern Russian-speaking audience.
The methodological framework employs the classification of realia by S. Vlahov and S. Florin, enabling a systematic analysis of a wide range of elements: from geographical names and everyday details (household items, food, clothing) to socio-political concepts, as well as phraseology and idioms reflecting the era's mentality. This approach ensures comprehensive coverage of linguocultural phenomena. The conducted analysis demonstrates that M. Batishcheva skillfully combines various techniques—from transliteration and calquing to descriptive translation and the search for functional equivalents. This allows not only for the accurate transmission of culturally determined meanings but also ensures the naturalness, artistic integrity, and reader engagement of the Russian text, maintaining a delicate balance between authenticity and adaptation.
Specific examples illustrate how the translator successfully solves complex tasks of intercultural adaptation. The research highlights the significance of such analysis for understanding the evolution of translation strategies in the context of classic literature. The work is valuable for specialists in the fields of linguoculturology, translation studies, and intercultural communication, as well as for practicing translators, philologists, and a broad readership interested in the problems of literary translation.
